Honey, I'm a Snicker Doodle

My Christmas cookie baking series continues as I finish up my second-to-last grad quarter, study for a certification exam, and attempt to carry on my mother's tradition of cookie platters.

Today's baking escapade is one of my personal favorites and is making its first debut on a Christmas cookie platter: the honey snicker doodle. They are truly one of the most perfect, chewy cookies ever.

These things contain that Christmastime magic that can be enjoyed all year-round. The Fiancé and I brought them once to a picnic where we left early....and I tried to take the leftovers home with me....apparently that's a faux-pas. Whatever.

The love affair continues

Christmas Cookie Edition Part 1: Almond Your Heart with These Cookies

So I have a confession..... I'm actually a bit of a grinch when it comes to Christmas. I loathe Christmas music and I don't particularly like decorating because it gets taken down after three weeks- which I find depressing.

But I do like Christmas cookies. In fact, I believe in Christmas cookies.

When I was little, my mom used to bake DOZENS of Christmas cookies. I decided to carry on the tradition, so I bring you the series: Christmas Cookies with Kristen ;) And no...no Crock Pot needed. You can expect in the next three weeks: oatmeal raisin, sugar, honey snicker doodles, and tri-color cookies.

New Year, New Post!

Hello everyone!

Just getting back into the swing of things- you know, detoxing from Christmas cookies and what not and figuring out my schedule with student teaching.

The good news... I just bought a new camera! 2012 will bring us better pictures of awesome, simple to make food :)

Kristen Tackles Leftovers... take one

I've never been very good about leftovers. I usually eat the same dish over and over before I get so sick of whatever it is I am eating that the thought of it makes me want to vom.

However, as I am on the quest to become a better cook/"healthier" college student, I am accepting the challenge of disguising my leftovers- both cleverly and deliciously.

The dish: Spicy honey-glazed chicken with rice
The dilemma: I am really, really, really sick of rice.

How I now feel about rice:

You know, that scene in the movie where they keep making him eat fruit cake and pudding? Yeah. I feel like that.

Therefore, I bring you.... Use-Everything-In-The-Apartment-That's-Going-To-Go-Bad Casserole:

Yum.

Crockpotervention: Spicy Honey-Glazed Chicken

It's finals week, which basically means that I have to learn 11 weeks worth of chemistry in 4 days. After studying all day, I needed something quick and cheap, yet not totally bad for me and equally delicious.

Enter spicy honey-glazed chicken. I had all the ingredients and I bet you do too.

Have yourself a fruity little pork chop

I couldn't resist. Holiday-themed titles from here on out!

I hope everyone had a wonderful stuffing-filled Thanksgiving, I know I did. I also know that I am really, really sick of turkey. Tonight's dinner called for the other white meat, pork. Pork chops if you want to be specific.

I bring you, Apriorange Pork Chops.

The Check List.
Is it not turkey? Yes.
